Next month, the hugely popular Columbus Alqueria restaurant is adding a brand new restaurant partner concept to its ranks.
Southern Suburban Food and Spirits– which is located at 2234 W. Dublin Granville Rd., the former home of The Crafty Pint – will offer South American fare and will also feature a full whiskey bar with an emphasis on American bourbon.
The new restaurant plans to open on June 27.
Inspired by owner Patrick Marker’s decade in the South Carolina Lowcountry, the restaurant will offer traditional Lowcountry dishes in addition to a variety of Cajun and Creole dishes. Although the menu has yet to be released, Maker said diners can expect dishes like shrimp and grits, fried catfish, smoked pork belly and more.
Executive chef Odine Hong, who has worked at popular Columbus restaurants like Barcelona Mezzo, Harvest, Due Amici and Hen Quarter, has been chosen to lead the new restaurant’s kitchen.
“I come from Worthington. I was raised there and it’s where my wife and I raise our children, so opening a restaurant there is a dream come true,” Maker said.
