Dustin Poirier launches ‘Rare Stash’ whiskey company to compete with Conor McGregor’s ‘Proper 12’

Dustin Poirier, former interim UFC lightweight champion, has released his own “Rare Stash” bourbon.

The latest business venture of “The Diamond” was announced in a video on Twitter:

“What’s up man, I just want to say thank you to all my fans around the world, thank you for the love and support over the years.

“I’m excited to introduce you to my Rare Stash, check it out.”

The official whiskey website gives a description of the product, along with the price of $100 for 750ml, plus additional gift options including glasses, whiskey stones and a drawstring bottle holder.

Apparently UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub once got his hands on a bottle of “Rare Stash” on Instagram to comment:

“My guy Dustin Poirier has dropped his new bourbon and it’s GOOD! Congratulations my man. Get it THIS FRIDAY.

It’s not the first time an MMA fighter has started a whiskey business – Conor McGregor introduced ‘Proper 12,’ an Irish whiskey in 2018. The UFC star and his business partners have since sold their stake controlling interest in Irish whiskey to Proximo Spirits in a deal worth up to $600 million.

Obviously getting into the whiskey business is very lucrative and Poirier is ready to build on what McGregor has already done. Maybe it’s another way to get under McGregor’s skin…to continue the rivalry between the two.

Poirier (28-6 MMA) and McGregor (22-6 MMA) have a history. The pair originally met at featherweight in September 2014, with “Notorious” emerging victorious by first-round knockout. The bitter rivals would collide for the second time in a lightweight contest 6.5 years later at UFC 257, with ‘The Diamond’ demanding revenge by earning a second-round TKO.

The highly anticipated McGregor vs. Poirier trilogy fight at UFC 264 ended abruptly after the Irish star suffered a nasty leg injury.

“We’re going to fight again, whether it’s in the Octagon or on the pavement,” Poirier said during his post-fight press conference at UFC 264.

UFC boss Dana White says Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will meet for the fourth time, but a rematch date has yet to be confirmed.
