Four festive whiskey drinks to master this Christmas

If you’re looking for cocktail inspiration, here are four festive whiskey cocktails created by the distillers themselves.

The Teeling New Market Fashioned is their old school version, with a few tweaks. Mix 50ml Teeling Small Batch whisky, 10ml honey syrup (50% honey, 50% hot water), 10ml spice liqueur or spiced rum and two dashes of bitters in a glass with ice. Stir for five minutes, garnish with an orange twist and a cinnamon stick.

Blackwater’s version of a New York sour.

Blackwater offers its version of a tart New York. Mix 50ml Velvet Cap whiskey, 20ml sugar syrup, 20ml lemon juice with the white of a medium egg for six seconds. Add ice and blend again for 10-12 seconds. Strain twice into a chilled highball glass (without ice) and top slowly with your favorite red wine.

Connacht Distillery Brand Ambassador Suzanne Cody created this hot whiskey cocktail for their Batch 1 single malt whisky. hot water to taste. To infuse the whiskey, place some dried apricots in it and let sit for at least two to three hours. Serve in an Irish coffee glass.

Glenda O’Neill of Bushmills created Master of the Brew. In a shaker, combine ice, 40ml Bushmills American oak barrel, 30ml black tea, 7ml lavender syrup, 10ml spiced lemon syrup, a dash of orange, a dash of mezcal. Double strain into a cup with saucer and finish with a lavender spritz.
