Glenfiddich rare whiskey auction raises £150,000 in support of Ukraine

Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch recently raised £150,000 to help with the long-term support of the Ukrainian people, after auctioning off 460 bottles of its 2022 edition (The Cooper’s Cask) on Whiskey Auctioneer.

Proceeds from the auction, which closed on May 10, will go to the Disaster Emergency Committee for Ukraine’s humanitarian appeal, www.dec.org.uk.

Glenfiddich malt master Brian Kinsman created the 2022 Spirit of Speyside Special Edition by selecting whiskey from three different oak casks – virgin American oak, ex-bourbon oak and refill American oak.

Bottled at cask strength, with an ABV of 60%, each 70cl bottle has been hand numbered 1-460 and signed by the master maltster himself.

The number one bottle was the auction’s biggest earner, fetching £5,601 alone.

Claudia Falcone, Global Brand Director Glenfiddich, said in a prepared statement: “We are so pleased that this year’s exclusive Spirit of Speyside bottling has succeeded in raising such a large sum of money for such an important cause. . The Disaster Emergency Committee is doing invaluable work in the region, and we hope this contribution will help provide relief to families affected by the conflict.

Whiskey Auctioneer has waived its selling costs and pays the buyer’s commission of 10% in addition to the hammer price recorded to allow as much as possible to go to the charitable cause.
