Jameson has launched a new collection of limited-edition Irish whiskeys meant to draw inspiration from the past and imagine new possibilities. Known as The Jameson Anthology, the first offering is available through online voting.
The new Jameson Remastered, according to its authors, “celebrates the spirit of classic whiskeys abandoned, reinventing them with modern techniques to deliver a new taste experience”. To that end, it is a 15-year-old single pot still expression, a reimagining of a bottling last produced in 2000 as a limited edition. It is made up of three styles of whiskey covering 15 to 17 years of maturation in American bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks.
This single pot still whiskey is said to raise a glass to history by featuring a significant contribution from sherry casks, paying homage to traditional whiskey making at Bow Street Distillery.
“It has been over two decades since the last Jameson 15 Year Old was created and this has been a great opportunity to remaster this classic whisky,” Jameson Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman said in a prepared statement.”
“For this limited edition bottling, we seized the opportunity to combine the traditional style of the single pot still with the strong influence of sherry casks, which was an integral part of historic whiskey production. We’re confident we’ve developed a contemporary iteration of Jameson 15 Year Old that pays homage to the torchbearers who put Irish whiskey on the map, while giving a nod to today’s generation of talented craftsmen at the distillery. Midleton. We can’t wait for Jameson fans to sip it, savor it, and enjoy every last drop.
“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with the team to bring Jameson fans a new 15 year old that has been remastered for modern times,” added Jameson Mixer Deirdre O’Carroll. “The inclusion of the sherry casks creates incredibly rich flavors and an extra-long fusion of fruit and spice, in keeping with the traditional pot still flavors that are known and loved. We look forward to continuing to delight fans. with more to come in The Jameson Anthology, which we hope will be music to whiskey fans’ ears.
