Here at Bluegrass, we take our bourbon very seriously. So when we say we discovered an amazing, off the beaten path bourbon bar worth checking out, we really mean it! In the historic small river town of Newport, Ky., Prohibition Bourbon Bar is a delightfully quirky whiskey bar reminiscent of a 1920s underground bar, and it’s a must visit for all Bluegrass bourbon lovers!
In these uncertain times, keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket-to-visit list at a later date.
Housed in a historic townhouse in downtown Newport, Ky., You’ll find Bluegrass’ most eccentric and delicious bourbon bar.
Café and bourbon bar, the Newberry Bros. Coffee & Prohibition Bourbon Bar is one of Kentucky’s most unique places. Fresh pastries? Handmade espresso? Cheese platters? Aged bourbon? Yes, yes, yes and yes!
Where else but here can you order an artisanal espresso and a glass of barrel-aged bourbon? Nowhere, we say.
But while the breakfast options here are all delicious, it’s the spirits that really set this place apart.
Hailed as the “biggest bourbon bar in the world”, this place boasts over 1,500 varieties (or over 6,000 bottles) of whiskey … and it continues!
As such, you’ll definitely want to order a flight of bourbon, so you can try several different varieties.
Of course, if you already have your own special drink, you will definitely be able to order it here as well.
But it’s not just the wide selection of bourbon that makes this place so special. Inspired by a 1920s underground bar, Prohibition Bourbon Bar is a total mood: dark, mysterious and irresistibly seductive.
Climb up to the bar in one of the time-worn stools and order an Elijah Craig Old Fashioned, one of Prohibition Bourbon Bar’s best-selling specialties.
Regardless of what you order – a coffee or a drink (or both!) – you will undoubtedly enjoy the charming ambiance of this unique Kentucky location. We have a feeling it could become your new favorite happy hour hub!
Did you know this little underground bar in Newport? Have you visited Bourbon Bar ban in Kentucky before? What a delightfully original little place!
Looking for more bourbon-tipped adventures in the Bluegrass? You’ll definitely want to check into this lovely Airbnb that’s actually the home of the Maker’s Mark family!
