Rocky River pub buys rare Irish whiskey for $45,000

Only 70 bottles of Chapter 2 from the 46-year-old Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery were produced. You may be among the few to taste whisky.

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — This story is crazy!

An Irish pub in Rocky River has bought a very rare bottle of whisky. It’s so rare that it cost around $45,000.

Gormley’s Pub posted on its Facebook page that only 70 bottles of Midleton whiskey had been produced. It came out of the popular Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland. And if you’re willing to pay top dollar, you can be one of the first to taste it next month.

The pub hosts the Midelton Festival of Whiskeys on 6th and 7th December. The December 6 event is sold out, but there are still tickets available for the second night event on December 7. The bottle has 20 installments and there are 20 tickets available, each for $2,350.

However, there’s still a chance you could try 46-year-old Midelton Very Rare Silent Distillery Chapter 2 without paying the two thousand dollars.

One lucky winner will be chosen to receive a single place at both nights of the Midelton Festival of Whiskies. It’s all part of a fundraiser that Gormley’s Pub is running in conjunction with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. The Festival of Whiskeys Raffle raises funds for Malachi House in Cleveland to help terminally ill people live out their final days with dignity. Only 200 tickets will be sold at $50 each.

Tickets are available in person at Gormley’s Pub and the Irish Barber during normal opening hours. Anyone not residing on site can call Sean Gormley (440) 554-3530 to purchase a ticket over the phone. Click here for more information.
